It is just for a medium cat not very fat. If you have a big or fat cat, you will need to embed it horizontally. It is otherwise easy to install.

I’ve been on the search for a cat highway, shelves to catify our home and did a lot of research looking at reviews and pictures. Very happy that I went with this brand. I really like this because it’s customizable and you can hang things however you want. We did buy our own anchors, the metal kind that hold up to 50 lb. We have two boy male cats 15 and 18 lb and these shelves hold up perfectly. Highly recommend the set you won’t be disappointed.

Both of my cats are between 9-11 pounds. I purchased these shelves because they were climbing a human ladder to get to my bed but found themselves stuck, they couldn’t find a way down without help. I installed some hooks and hung their extra cat toys, they definitely enjoy that. They play on the shelves every day all day. I probably spent 2 hours on it (maybe more) but I don’t have any experience building or hanging things. To me, it was quite an extensive process but well worth it.
