I connected the converter from the TV’s optical output to an old audio amplifier.
The sound is more than good, the audio quality is more than good.
Attention: use a good USB power supply, even one with 1A is sufficient, otherwise you might notice some background noise in the audio due to the power supply’s ripple.

Great product and good value. I’m using it to hook up my lg c5 to my b&o beolab 18 via beosound core optical to rca. Works perfectly no syn issues, sound is fine. Just make sure you get an usb charger to power it. This item worked without a hitch the only issue was my lg c5 was a bit odd, heaps of static sound when tv audio was optical only but all good when i put optical+tv.
