What they are for, and what they are not. These suit soft wire, copper, component legs, plastic and cable ties. Keep them away from hardened steel, piano wire, nails and screws – a fine flush jaw chips or takes a notch on hard material and never cuts cleanly again afterwards. One thing to be clear about: the rubber on the handles is there for grip and comfort. It is not certified electrical insulation, these are not VDE-rated tools, and they must not be used on live circuits – isolate first, every time. The supplier gives the jaw material only as “50 steel”, with no hardness figure, so treat them as light-duty electronics cutters rather than a general-purpose snip.
