This is a wonderful and very small device! i was not sure if this is fast enough. but chatgpt convinced me to get the gl.inet gl-mt3000 (beryl ax) and that the newer, more expensive models would not help me with faster wifi in the house. it serves as a repeater to create an additional network layer for all the smart plugs. setup was fast and easy. the only downside are small printed install guides that are way to small for my eyes. but it was basically plug and play. the shipment was fast and arrived before the expected date.

The GL.iNet Beryl AX delivered a performance that was much higher than I expected. The Wi-Fi 6 connection operates extremely stably in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. On the VPN side, WireGuard and OpenVPN tunnels operated smoothly with low latency and high throughput. The interface is fast, firmware updates are reliable, and being based on OpenWrt is a major advantage for advanced configuration. In terms of hardware, the SoC temperatures remained stable even under load, and the USB-C power input and compact design make it ideal for mobile use. Definitely one of the best in its category among portable routers.

Its a great piece of hardware, very customizable and the software it ships comes with tailscale and all kinds of vpn server software. Its very small and light.
I tested using a poe injector to run a ethernet cable thst i then split with a poe splitter (split to ethernet and usb c for power) and it worked great. My garage doesnt have any outlets, only a ethernet cable that runs to my car wallbox, so i unplugget that, put this device in between and now i have wifi in the garage and the wallbox is in the network as well.

Great part. You turn it on, then you can view the Gl.net Mt3000 from the notebook via Wi-Fi and log in to 192.168.8.1 using the password on the bottom.
Glinet setup interface appears.
These connections are possible: repeater in Wi-Fi, LAN on your own router, or tethering with a mobile phone.
If you know that, everything becomes quite simple.
As a repeater, you can dial into the hotel network and then distribute the signal to all your family members. Most of the time, only 1 user per room is allowed.

I’ve used this fantastic little router to replace my starlink router on my gen2 12v conversion setup. I connected it up as per instructions provided by chat gpt and everything just worked! For such a small router it has an excellent wifi range, very fast speed (double that of the original starlink router) and i love the fact that it’s powered through a usb c port. This router is awesome for travel out of the box without modifications needed. You can always install vanilla openwrt on it, but the stock firmware is so well made, that i found no need to reflas so far. Supports all sorts of vpns, wifi repeating, usb tethering for phones, gsm modem can be plugged on the usb port and many others, it’s like a swiss army knife of networking. Can’t recommend it enough.

Super fast delivery, i received the router in just two days! Excellent quality. I wanted to use the router as a vpn client/server with pi-hole. It turned out i needed to revert to version 4.7.4, but everything worked in the end with minimal configuration. This is my 3rd gl-mt3000 and i am super satisfied. I use one from country house to connect to home (to avoid household limitations in some streaming apps and to access my 3d printer remotely). The second one i always bring with me when travelling, to be able to watch home television (avoiding geolocation stops) and the 3rd one i will give to a friend who wants to watch streaming from his house abroad.

The router works wonderfully, I mainly wanted it to connect to my Tailscale network and it works excellent, although for that I had to update it through a terminal using a community script.
In my case, the shipping issue was not very appealing to me because it was through the Mexican post office, and at least in my small town, that part of logistics is a bit slow. Fortunately, it wasn’t a long wait; from the date of purchase to the date I received it, it was 23 days, which in the end is not much time.
In summary, I am incredibly satisfied with the product and will definitely be buying more from them.
