Choosing an option

The options split into two groups. B290 and B290 dj are the holder on its own – take one of these if you already have stones. The Set options add sharpening stones, each pairing two grits: Set a is 240#/400#, Set b 240#/800#, Set c 400#/1000#, Set d 600#/1500# and Set-e 1000#/3000#. Ac is a double-sided diamond plate at 400#/1000#. The remaining set options bundle two double-sided stones each and the grits are printed on the stones in their photographs – the listing gives no written contents list, so read the grits off the picture for the option you are considering before you buy. As a rough guide, grits under about 400 reshape a damaged edge, 800 to 2000 do the actual sharpening, and anything above that is for polishing an edge you have already set.
